Hello Fellow Drummers!!!
As you know we just finished Drum Camp and we are headed for Rookie Camp and Band Camp. The month of July is probably the hardest month of band, but me and Corey are going to look for ways to make it more fun and enjoyable for everyone. Starting with a review of how Drum Camp went, I think that the three days went very well. My first impressions of the freshmen was good, and we got both cadences sounding descent. I also was very impressed by the attitude of the line. Up till the last minute, I could tell that everyone wanted to be there, and that everyone wanted to drum. This is a very good sign for the upcoming marching season.
Rookie Camp and Band Camp are almost here, as we all know, and I'm certain that the freshmen are a bit nervous about it. Both camps will be easy and fun, if you let it. By keeping a good attitude, and by trying to have fum, the two weeks will pass very quickly. I will not lie and say that they will be easy, and I wont lie and say that you wont sweat or hurt, but if you just look past these little details, you will see that what we accomplish and the friends you will make are very much worth it in the end.
My only negative statement this month is that we need to try very hard this year to keep the drama outside of the drumline. Last year, we were very promising until the drama came about. There is no reason why you have to take care of little dramas during practice, or class, or at competitions, so please try to keep the overall drama level to a minimum.
I'm looking forward to a great year, and a great two weeks. I wish the freshmen, as well as those returning, the best of luck! Thank you for taking the time to read these notes.

Yeah, What he said…but seriously, i think that if we really work hard, then we will go very far this year. Yes, that includes staying set. I think that shows that we really care about what we are doing, and that we also enjoy it. Also, when you see a drumline warming-up, which do you thing of as a threat? The one that laughs and jokes around, or the one that is doing what they are suppose to be doing, and staying set. They are together, and it looks good, and intimidating!

Also, don't fail to realize the potential we all possess. Comeaux high school's band was once one of the greatest bands in the country. The number of bands that were better than comeaux could most likely have been counted on one hand. Make sure to understand the true limits of what a drumline can achieve. A good way to do this is to watch the most famous of drumlines, whether it be on the internet or at DCI coming to Cajun Field on the 20th of July. Hopefully our full drumline will be able to make it to DCI, despite its date being on the first day of Freshman week; I think it would be an amazing experience for us as well as motivation for the upcoming year. ~Jacob
