Hi, my name is Nick Romero. I’m a freshman, and I play first bass on the Comeaux Drumline. Sometimes I feel pressured being the only freshman in battery. At first I thought that the people in battery would get mad at me for messing up and say I didn’t deserve to make first bass drum. But the line accepted me as if I were a sophomore. At freshman week and band camp many people kept telling me that I was a “natural.” However, that is not completely true. I have been around music and marching bands my whole life. Both my grandparents on my mother’s side are retired band directors. It’s a cool thing sometimes because they help me out a lot. But, they also give me a reputation to live up to. Like I’m supposed to be perfect because both of my grandparents were band directors, but it just gives me another reason to practice harder. Since I was five years old, I have wanted to play drums, but in fifth grade my band director said I couldn’t play percussion, because “I had to be a straight A student,” or something. So I played trumpet. But in sixth grade I switched to percussion. Well I think I’m getting a little side tracked. And this isn’t my life story, but if you have any questions just ask me.
Nick
